Up until recently using fake eyelashes has been something I have only done on very special occasions – and when I say special, I mean special. We’re talking New Years Eve or a birthday night out, if I was lucky. I think it was due to the fact that I was worried they would not look natural or that I would be useless at applying them (no one wants to be the girl with dodgy lashes, which are half falling off and no one has the heart to tell her!) However over the past few months I’ve been trying to get a bit more ‘clued up’ on lashes by researching makeup looks online, in an attempt to build my confidence in their application and discover some natural options which suit my normal makeup look. So when the lovely people at Threads Beauty got in contact to see if I wanted to try their handmade, featherweight lashes, I was excited to see if they could give me the easy application and natural look I was hoping for.
I was lucky enough to be sent both their ‘Charleston Lashes’ and ‘Be-Bop Lashes’, both looked very natural and like they were right up my street. Upon first glance the Charleston pair looked like they would provide length and help to define lashes – perfect for a night out or perhaps a glam fancy dress look (Halloween is on its way after all)! The Be-Bop Lashes on the other hand, were slightly more subtle and fluttery – something which I thought would suit my usual, natural make-up look.
I decided to test the Be-Bop lashes, which were incredibly easy to apply for an amateur like me. I firstly placed the lashes onto my eye to measure them for size. As you would expect, the band was slightly too long, so I had to trim the lashes down. Once I had a good idea of how much I needed to cut off, I lifted them off my eye and trimmed the eyelashes down to fit my eye shape, trimming from the outer edge. I then followed the instructions on the packaging and popped some of the glue on to the band, waited a few seconds for the eyelash glue to become tacky and used a pair of tweezers to place them onto my eyes. I worked from the middle outwards, using the blunt end of the tweezers to really push the band as close to my lashes as possible. It took a little bit of tweaking, but it was honestly one of the easiest applications I’ve ever done- no endless attempts at applying and re-applying, thank goodness!
As you can see the Be-Bop lashes provided me with a lot more length than my natural lashes. Creating a delicate and fluttery look, which is perfect if you want some extra definition, especially if you’re heading for a night out, dinner or drinks. If like me, you think less is more, then these lashes are a lovely addition to any night out look and create that extra length that we all want.
Overall I am really impressed with how comfortable and easy to apply these Thread lashes were. It has changed my mind of the application process for lashes, which I dreaded so much. Within only a few minutes I had them in place and felt confident they weren’t going to budge! They have given me the assurance to attempt to incorporate lashes into my makeup looks more often. If you are looking for an easy to apply lash and want to get your hands on a pair of Threads lashes you can find them stocked online here, for £9 a pair.
