Ruffled Pinafores | Olivett

Anyone who knows me well, will probably know that i’m jeans and a top kind of girl. Whenever I’m getting dressed on the weekend it’s usually what I will throw on as to me, it’s a fail safe outfit. But recently I have been getting a bit tired of my wardrobe and decided I needed to branch out a bit in order to incorporate a few different items – one of those being a pinafore. I haven’t worn one since I was in primary school, but for a year or so now I have seen these come back into fashion and have seen girls rocking these when out and about. So I decided it was time that I invested in one, as it is an item which provides a slight twist on the usual, casual dress.

Whist I was browsing the shops for the perfect pinafore I came across this one from Dorothy Perkins. It is in a lovely velvet effect material, in a deep red colour – perfect for the festive season. I instantly imagined pairing it with a pair of tights, some little black boots and a long sleeved top, throughout the colder months.

I also paired it with this beige backpack that I picked up from TK Maxx about 18 months ago. I think it is the perfect weekend bag, as it can hold a surprisingly large amount of stuff. I normally throw in my purse, keys, phone, umbrella and would probably still have space to fit a small jumper or cardigan in there too. On the weekends I want something which I can sling over my shoulders and not have not worry about whilst I do some exploring or shopping and this bag does exactly that.

It was really glad to get out of my comfort zone and not rely on wearing jeans or one of my go-to outfits (which I am sure gets worn far too much). It is also nice to add a bit of variety into my wardrobe – this pinafore can be paired with so many different tops and accessories, for completely different looks. You can throw on a polo neck jumper and some knee high boots for a wrapped-up, cosy autumnal look or why not try a sparkly, embellished top for a more festive outfit.

    1. Thank you lovely! I thought the same and I was worried that I was look too old to be wearing one (hopefully that’s not the case ha) but after seeing this festive Dorothy Perkins pinafore, I couldn’t resist! You should deifnitely grab one, they’re such an easy piece to style. I think I will try and pick some up in a few different autumnal colours, maybe a khaki one? xx
